When I sit down to write something that I am passionate or excited about I get to about here and then stop.

Is this good enough?

Self talk like this keeps me from hitting publish. It’s often not original and not good enough.

This is where a platform like Medium works against you. You log in and see all these amazing stories. With 1K recommends, hundreds of comments, written by your heroes or a Black Swan or two. You say to yourself,

Medium is for them, not for me

Fuck that. Medium is for you because Medium is for writing and sharing ideas that don’t fit into a Tweet. Don’t judge your inside to someone else’s outside. Many on this platform have been doing this for years and very few of them have an original idea every time.

The world needs more story tellers because the act of writing is a thought distiller. It’s easy to scream into the pillow and tweet, try turning it into something a little longer and thought out. Does it still stand up?

You might not get any recommends or a book deal but who cares. Just keep writing, you will find your voice.
